Airtel Launches AI Solution For Spam Detection: Gopal Vittal Explains The Benefits

Gopal Vittal, Managing Director and CEO of Bharti Airtel, discussed the launch of India's first AI-powered network solution for spam detection. This innovative feature will alert users to suspected spam calls and messages directly on their dialer, significantly enhancing user protection. When a spam call is detected, users will see a notification labeled "suspected spam," allowing them to avoid interacting with potential fraudsters. Currently, Airtel identifies an astounding 100 million spam calls and 3 million spam SMSes daily, with the solution achieving a remarkable 99.5% reduction in spam messages and a 97% reduction in spam calls. While only 3% of spam attempts might still get through, Vittal assures that this percentage will decrease further within the next 4 to 6 weeks. The rollout of this proprietary solution begins tonight, marking a significant step toward safeguarding Airtel customers from unwanted communications, and offering a robust defense against spam and fraud.
