Kerala was plunged into shock and grief on July 30 after devastating landslides struck Wayanad, resulting in the tragic loss of over 155 lives and leaving hundreds injured. Torrential rains triggered the landslides, which obliterated homes, roads, and bridges, causing widespread disruption. The scale of the disaster has led to fears that the death toll may rise as many remain trapped under debris or are reported missing. Rescue operations are in full swing, with teams from the NDRF, SDRF, IAF, and the Indian Army—deploying 225 personnel including medical teams—working tirelessly to locate and evacuate stranded residents. The government is actively engaged in relief efforts to ensure safety and minimize further damage. Meanwhile, the planned visits of Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi to Wayanad have been canceled due to adverse weather conditions. Rescue teams have been working throughout the night to provide aid and support to the affected communities.
