Avalanche Horror In Kumaon’s Chamoli, 8 Confirmed Dead

Avalanche Horror In Kumaon’s Chamoli, 8 Confirmed Dead

A terrifying avalanche struck Uttarakhand’s Chamoli region early Friday morning as a glacier burst in Mana, triggering a massive snow slide. The powerful avalanche buried a Border Roads Organisation (BRO) camp between Mana and Badrinath, trapping 54 construction workers under the icy debris. Rescue teams, including ITBP, NDRF, SDRF, and army troops, launched an intense operation in extreme weather conditions to save those buried under the snow. Despite fresh snowfall hampering rescue efforts, dozens were pulled out alive, while at least eight workers tragically lost their lives. Survivors described the chilling ordeal as they were airlifted to Joshimath Army Hospital for urgent medical care.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami closely monitored the rescue operations, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally reaching out to offer all necessary assistance. Over 150 additional army personnel were deployed to bolster rescue efforts in the treacherous terrain. With harsh weather and freezing temperatures making operations even more challenging, the race against time continues to save every possible life. Stay tuned for updates on this developing tragedy.
