Potholes and rain have become an unfortunate part of Bengaluru's identity, especially during the monsoon. Every year, promises are made to tackle the issue, but the reality often falls short. This year, the Siddaramaiah government assured citizens in early September that all potholes would be filled within 15 days. However, almost a month later, 1,222 potholes still dot the city's roads. India Today conducted a ground report in areas like Malleshwaram, where the situation remains dire, with vehicles struggling to navigate the pothole-ridden streets. These open craters not only make commuting difficult but pose serious safety risks to both motorists and pedestrians. In areas like Covenant Road, where multiple schools are located, the problem becomes even more concerning. The BJP has criticized the Siddaramaiah government for its failure to deliver on its promises, with MLA Ashwath Narayan highlighting the ongoing challenges. Meanwhile, the Karnataka government continues to assert that the municipal body is well-equipped to handle the crisis, with Priyank Kharge reaffirming their commitment. With more rain forecasted and many potholes still unaddressed, it seems Bengaluru's residents are in for a bumpy ride as the monsoon season continues.
