Chinese Ambassador: "Xi Jinping And Modi Agree On Cooperation, No Rivalry Between China And India"

On Wednesday, Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong stated that President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have agreed that China and India are partners in "cooperation and development," rather than competitors. He remarked, "President Xi and Prime Minister Modi have reached a key consensus that China and India are not rivals or threats but partners in pursuing cooperation and development opportunities."Speaking on the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Ambassador Xu noted, "Since the start of this year, China-India relations have shown positive momentum in improvement and development. Both nations have sustained high-level communications, with Premier Li Qiang sending a congratulatory message to Prime Minister Modi upon his reelection. Furthermore, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Dialogue on border issues has been ongoing through diplomatic and military channels. China has become India’s largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching $92.5 billion in the first eight months of this year—a 4.1% year-on-year increase. In addition, people-to-people exchanges have grown, with the Chinese Embassy and Consulates-General in India issuing over 400,000 visas to Indian citizens since last year."
