In 1945 at the Songshan Airport in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, this airport was known as the Matsuyama Airfield, which was under the occupation of the Japanese, and on 18th August 1945, an aircraft carrying Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, allegedly or reportedly, crashed at that airport. Soon after the crash, Netaji was reportedly taken to the Nanmon Military Hospital, which used to stand at the site of the present-day Taipei Municipal Heping Hospital. But a couple of days later, it was announced by the Japanese government that Bose had succumbed to his injuries, and his last rights were performed at this ancient crematorium in Taipei, later converted into a public park. However, the official register of cremations from all the crematoriums across then Japan occupied Taiwan on that fateful day tells a different story.
