Jasmeet Sethi, the head of Ericsson ConsumerLab, shared insights in a video about the accelerating adoption of 5G technology in India in 2023. The report indicates that approximately 31 million users in India are expected to make the transition to 5G-enabled smartphones. This move to 5G has significantly enhanced overall network satisfaction, boasting a remarkable 30% improvement compared to 4G. Interestingly, one in five users in India is willing to pay a 14% premium for innovative services and the differentiated connectivity that 5G offers. Ericsson's report, titled '5G Value: Turning Performance into Loyalty,' conducted by Ericsson ConsumerLab, delves into the factors driving 5G network satisfaction and user loyalty. The study suggests a vast opportunity for further 5G adoption in India, with users demonstrating high engagement in activities like streaming HD video, video calling, mobile gaming, and augmented reality. Notably, Indian users spend an average of two additional hours per week on these services compared to early adopter 5G markets like the US, UK, South Korea, China, and others. India also stands out with a 13% higher share of very satisfied 5G users, and overall satisfaction increases by a substantial 30% during the transition from 4G to 5G, largely attributed to higher download speeds. This data underscores the promising future of 5G technology in India.
