Flying during Diwali week is shaping up to be a costly experience, with airfares hitting record highs. Even when booking nearly three months in advance, travelers on select routes between October 30 and November 5 are encountering steep prices. For example, a one-way ticket from Mumbai to Patna has skyrocketed to Rs 25,000, while flights from Bengaluru to Darbhanga are reaching Rs 22,000. Other routes, such as Mumbai to Lucknow and Bengaluru to Delhi, are also seeing fares climb to Rs 17,000 and Rs 16,000, respectively. These elevated prices are driven by heightened demand and limited seat availability during the festive season. In 2024, Diwali, the Festival of Lights, will be celebrated on Friday, November 1st.
