Home Minister Amit Shah has criticized the Congress for not fulfilling election promises in states like Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana, referencing Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's recent remarks against reckless freebies. Shah urged Jharkhand voters not to fall for what he called "fake promises" by the Congress. The INDIA bloc ally, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), also cautioned voters against high-sounding but potentially unachievable poll promises. Earlier, Kharge himself had advised Congress units against making extravagant pledges that strain budgets, a comment later used by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to criticize Congress, pointing to failed loan waiver promises and calling it a “fraud on voters.” In response, Congress defended itself, arguing that its governed states are exemplary in delivering on promises. The question remains—will unfulfilled promises impact the electoral outcomes in Maharashtra and Jharkhand?
