V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, discusses the NIRF Rankings 2024, where the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT M) has continued its dominance. IIT Madras retained its position as the number one institution in the country in both the overall and engineering categories. This marks the eighth consecutive year that IIT Madras has secured the top spot in engineering. The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have once again dominated the top 10 rankings in the overall category. Following IIT Madras, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, secured the second position. The third, fourth, and fifth spots were taken by IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IIT Kanpur, respectively. IIT Kharagpur ranked sixth, while AIIMS Delhi took the seventh position. IIT Roorkee and IIT Guwahati occupied the eighth and ninth spots, with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, completing the top ten. The consistent performance of IIT Madras and other IITs highlights their commitment to excellence in education and research, setting a high standard for institutions across the country.
