Incredible Moment In Srirangam When PM Modi Gets A ‘Ram’ Blessing

Incredible Moment In Srirangam When PM Modi Gets A ‘Ram’ Blessing

Two days before he participated in the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Tamil Nadu. He visited the famous Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple in Srirangam – a temple with a very deep connection with Lord Ram. It is said Shree Ram and his ancestors worshipped the idol of Sri Ranganatha Swamy, a form of Lord Vishnu, at the temple. As per religious lore, the idol was given to Shree Rama’s ancestors by none other than Lord Brahma and was kept at Ayodhya. PM Modi visited the temple on Saturday, Jan 20 and it was during his visit there that a priest showered him with a blessing from the roadside. The Ramayana-era shloka goes – यं पालयसि धर्मं त्वं धृत्या च नियमेन च। स वै राघवशार्दूल धर्मस्त्वामभिरक्षतु। The blessing translates to “That dharma that you are upkeeping with so much effort, may that dharma protect you”. Incredibly, this was the same blessing Lord Rama’s mother Kaushalya gave him when he was sent to his 14-year exile.
