Government of India is all ready for a groundbreaking transformation in travel as India unveils its advanced electronic passports, or e-passports, in the next two months. With successful technical assessments completed, the Indian Security Press in Nashik is set to produce 70 lakh blank booklets for these cutting-edge passports, followed by an order of 4.5 crore chip-embedded passports. Complying meticulously with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards, these passports sport 41 advanced attributes, enabling swift immigration procedures in 140 countries. While maintaining the appearance of traditional passports, the game-changer lies within the radio frequency identification chip on a single page. The second page hosts vital personal data and a unique digital security element featuring a country-specific 'digital signature,' authenticated through individual certificates. This innovation marks a significant stride towards seamless global travel, benefiting India's aspiring students and job-seekers abroad.
