According to CAPA India, India's aviation landscape, now stabilized under the leadership of IndiGo and the Air India group, is poised for increased competition between these two major airline entities. This anticipated rivalry is expected to mark the beginning of a new chapter in the Indian aviation market from 2024. CAPA India's CEO, Kapil Kaul, discusses the outlook for the Indian aviation sector in 2024 with BT TV's Karishma Asoodani. Kaul predicts heightened competitive dynamics with the growth of Akasa Air and the potential revival of SpiceJet. Contrary to concerns about safety standards, he reassures that India is not in a code red situation, citing mega orders from Air India and IndiGo as factors mitigating supply constraints. Kaul further shares that in the coming years, the Delhi government will need to incentivize Delhi airport, as the Noida International airport, offering cheaper ATF prices, poses a formidable challenge in terms of airfares.
