Inside Jagan Mohan's Rushikonda Palace: Luxury, Controversy & Unused Grandeur

Inside Jagan Mohan's Rushikonda Palace: Luxury, Controversy & Unused Grandeur

The Rushikonda Palace stands as a symbol of both opulence and controversy. Originally planned as a dual-purpose office and residence for Jagan Mohan Reddy in Vizag, this grand tourism resort now remains unused amid allegations of environmental violations. Built at a staggering cost of nearly ₹500 crore over 10 acres, the complex comprises seven blocks, complete with roads, drainage, and a dedicated power sub-station. Lavish interiors featuring Italian marble, gold-accented bathrooms, spas, jacuzzis, and imported furniture alone are valued at over ₹33 crore. Landscaping costs soared to ₹50 crore, while extravagant touches like ₹40 lakh bathtubs and ₹10-12 lakh commodes highlight its luxury. However, the project has sparked controversy over alleged breaches of Coastal Regulation Zone norms, with extensive excavation affecting Rushikonda's pristine beachfront hill.
