Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has raised serious concerns over the agreements between Elon Musk's SpaceX and Indian telecom giants Airtel and Jio for Starlink services. Calling it an "orchestrated" move by PM Modi to curry favour with Donald Trump, Ramesh questioned the national security implications of the deal. He asked who would control connectivity in critical situations and whether other satellite-based providers would get equal opportunity. Responding to Ramesh, BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar dismissed his concerns, stating that a Congressman is the least qualified to speak on national security, citing alleged failures under the UPA government. He asserted that PM Modi would never compromise India’s security or economy, reinforcing trust in the government's decisions. The debate also fuels speculation on whether the deal signals a commitment to Tesla’s manufacturing entry into India.
