Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah faced a significant setback in the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allotment scam as the Karnataka High Court rejected his petition challenging Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's approval for a probe against him. The court ruled that the governor had the authority to order an investigation, adding that the facts presented in the petition warranted a mandatory inquiry into the CM’s alleged involvement. The court also stated that the complainant was justified, as Siddaramaiah’s family allegedly benefited directly from the land allotment. Following the verdict, Siddaramaiah announced plans to appeal, accusing the BJP of engaging in revenge politics. While Congress leaders, including D.K. Shivakumar, rallied in support of the CM, the BJP demanded his resignation. The MUDA scam revolves around the controversial allotment of land, where Siddaramaiah’s wife reportedly received more than the due compensation, raising questions about the allotment that took place during the BJP’s tenure.
