Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Faces Prosecution Sanction in MUDA Scam Amidst Protests

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Faces Prosecution Sanction in MUDA Scam Amidst Protests

Trouble deepens for Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah as Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot sanctioned his prosecution in the alleged MUDA scam on Saturday. Siddaramaiah vehemently denied all charges, dismissing them as politically motivated vendetta. "I will fight it out later in court because it's an illegal sanction given by the governor who is a puppet of the central government. There is no prima facie case against me or against anybody. BJP has no moral right to ask for my resignation. The Governor is biased towards me," he stated on 5Live. The row erupted after RTI activist TJ Abraham lodged a complaint accusing Siddaramaiah of concealing critical information about land holdings in his election affidavit. The complaint centers on land owned by Siddaramaiah's wife, Parvathi, alleged to have benefited from land swaps. The RTI inquiry suggested illegal manipulations in the land allocation process by MUDA, sparking demands for plot cancellations. The political fallout was immediate, with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge flying to Bengaluru to support Siddaramaiah. In Mysuru and Chikkamagaluru, Congress leaders and workers protested against the Governor's prosecution nod. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar branded the governor's actions as unconstitutional. Meanwhile, the opposition BJP has demanded Siddaramaiah’s resignation, intensifying the political battle and placing Siddaramaiah in a precarious position. The coming days will be crucial as the CM and his party navigate this deepening crisis.
