
At Deloitte India’s Government Summit 2024, Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport & Highways, highlighted innovative approaches to agriculture and infrastructure development. Emphasizing natural farming technologies, Gadkari shared his project of utilizing resources like hair from Tirupati to create micro-fertilizers, which are sold at 25% below market cost to boost productivity. He stressed the need for separate growth strategies for urban and rural sectors, calling for innovative policies to ensure balanced development. Gadkari also detailed his past success as Water Minister, implementing a project in Mathura that recycled sewage sludge into clean water for Indian Oil, which paid ₹20 crore annually in royalties. He explained how similar projects could be applied nationwide, citing the Nagpur project where sewage water is sold to Maharashtra's power plants, generating ₹300 crore in yearly royalties. By showcasing examples of public-private partnerships, Gadkari demonstrated how leveraging technology and sustainable practices can boost India's rural economy while ensuring profitability and resource efficiency for urban infrastructure projects.
