Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, speaking at the 63rd Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) Convention, announced his intent to advocate for a 10 per cent increase in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on diesel engines and vehicles. Gadkari has already drafted a letter and plans to meet with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to discuss this proposal. He believes that implementing this GST hike is a crucial step in phasing out diesel cars, aligning with India's environmental and automotive goals.
