PM Narendra Modi, speaking in Kargil, highlighted the upcoming fifth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5. He emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir is now talking about a new future and big dreams, with its global recognition bolstered by hosting important events like the G20 summit. Alongside infrastructure development, the tourism sector in Jammu, Kashmir, Leh, and Ladakh is rapidly growing. After decades, cinemas have reopened in Kashmir, and for the first time in three and a half decades, the Tazia procession was held in Srinagar. PM Modi also underscored the significant defense reforms over the past decade, prioritizing the defense sector, which has made Indian forces more capable and self-reliant. With increased defense procurement from the Indian defense industry and a 25% R&D budget reserved for the private sector, India's defense production has surpassed ₹1.25 lakh crore. India, once known for importing weapons, is now emerging as an exporter, with over 5,000 military items no longer imported.
