In Mumbai, a gathering of 28 opposition parties under the banner of the INDIA alliance is currently underway. Their discussions revolve around selecting a new logo, appointing a convenor, and crafting a strategy for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The Congress, driving the opposition unity initiative against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, received fresh ammunition when British newspapers, Financial Times and The Guardian, published a report on the Adani group. This report, funded by multi-billionaire George Soros, alleges that overseas companies connected to Gautam Adani's elder brother Vinod Adani invested millions of dollars in Adani group companies in violation of norms. While Rahul Gandhi called for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Adani group, most other opposition members refrained from making public statements. Meanwhile, the Modi government announced a Special Session of Parliament from September 18th to 22nd, with potential key bills such as "one nation, one election" and women's reservation on the agenda.
