Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, known for his strained relations with India, is reportedly on the brink of stepping down. While this news hasn't come as a surprise, the mounting pressure on him has been building for quite some time. With around 20 MPs from his own Liberal party turning against him due to misgovernance, Trudeau faces an uphill battle. Declining opinion poll numbers, dissatisfaction over high inflation, job crisis, and soaring housing prices have contributed to the growing discontent. The situation worsened following a tense spat with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, who threatened to impose a 25% tariff on Canadian goods, putting Trudeau on the defensive. Meanwhile, his ties with India have soured due to his support for pro-Khalistan radicals and the Nijjar killing row, in which he accused the Indian government without providing substantial evidence. As Canada heads into elections this year, Trudeau's political future is at stake, with many polls suggesting a challenging battle against the Conservatives led by Pierre Poilievre.
