Gautam Adani, along with seven others, has been indicted in the US on charges of a 265-million-dollar bribery scheme and fraud. Authorities claim that Adani and the other defendants conspired to bribe Indian government officials in exchange for lucrative solar-energy supply contracts. These contracts were believed to potentially yield 2 billion dollars in profit over 20 years, in addition to the development of India's largest solar power plant project.the BJP has criticized the Congress party, highlighting that the states involved in the alleged bribery—Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, and Andhra Pradesh—were ruled by opposition parties at the time the scheme allegedly occurred. Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has called for investigations that should cover all states, regardless of the political party in power.
