Rekha Gupta's Day 1 As Delhi Chief Minister: Yamuna Aarti, Then Cabinet Meet

Within hours of taking oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, along with her Cabinet colleagues, perform ‘Yamuna aarti’ at the city’s Vasudev Ghat. The party leaders then headed to the Delhi secretariat for the first Cabinet meeting. India Today Group was on the ground for the ‘aarti’. The pollution in River Yamuna was a major issue in Delhi polls with the AAP and BJP taking pot-shots at each other over the matter. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal had alleged that the BJP-ruled Haryana was mixing “poison” into the Yamuna water to disrupt Delhi’s water supply, a charge vehemently denied by Haryana and the BJP. Following the poll win in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his victory speech, focused on the Yamuna. After the oath ceremony on Thursday, BJP leaders along with the new Chief Minister headed to Yamuna for ‘aarti’.
