Sundar Pichai At Paris AI Summit: Cherish The Tension Between Risk & Opportunity

Conceding that Artificial Intelligence (AI) was indeed a dual-use tech, Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai says his approach to the tech is bold and responsible. Speaking at the AI Active Summit in Paris, Pichai said that AI in the guise of Alphafold had decoded millions of protein structures – a lifetime of work for a large team of PhDs, in a period of just months. He added that countries would get left behind if they did not unlock AI productivity. On the other hand, Pichai said, technology and laws needed to be upgraded for the battle against deepfakes and misuse of AI.
