A week after the release of NEET-UG 2024 results, students continue to protest, with some taking their grievances to the courts. The Supreme Court, in response to a petition seeking the cancellation of the results, issued notices to the central government and the National Testing Agency (NTA). The Court remarked that the ultra-competitive medical undergraduate admission examination is not simple and raised concerns about the sanctity of the exam. Advocate Aslam Ahmed, representing the petitioners, emphasized the need for answers regarding the affected sanctity of the examination. Meanwhile, the NTA has asserted that there were no discrepancies in the published results and maintained transparency in the process. However, the ongoing controversy alleges discrepancies in scores and accuses the NTA of preferential treatment towards certain students. Despite the petition's request for the cancellation of scores and a fresh exam, the Court decided to continue counseling for admissions and postponed the matter to July 8. The opposition has criticized the government, alleging bias against economically disadvantaged students and undermining federalism. The controversy escalated when 67 students achieved perfect scores, with six of them from the same exam center in Faridabad, raising further questions about the fairness of the exam.
