On Saturday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma celebrated a 'golden day' for the state as the 'Bhumi Pujan' ceremony was conducted for Tata Electronics' new ₹27,000 crore semiconductor assembly and testing facility in Jagiroad, Morigaon district. This landmark project marks a significant step for Assam's industrial landscape. Sarma expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tata Sons Limited for their pivotal role in bringing this facility to the region. He assured Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran of full support and cooperation from the local government, emphasizing that the people of Assam are eager and appreciative of this development. The facility is anticipated to begin operations by 2025 and will generate over 27,000 jobs. The plant will focus on key technologies such as Wire Bond, Flip Chip, and Integrated Systems Packaging (ISP), boosting industries like automotive and enhancing productivity in the EV sector, communications, and network infrastructure.
