Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw unveiled India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper trainset at the BEML Complex in Bengaluru on Sunday, emphasizing that it is specifically "built for the middle class." The trainset, manufactured in a remarkable nine months, signifies a major milestone for BEML and the Indian Railways. Vaishnaw also inaugurated a new 9.2-acre hangar facility, dedicated to the export of standard and broad-gauge rolling stock, further bolstering BEML’s global footprint. The Vande Bharat Sleeper trainset, designed with a focus on both aesthetics and functionality, showcases India's growing capabilities in rail technology. Constructed from austenitic stainless steel, the trainset is equipped with advanced safety features like crashworthy buffers and couplers, and adheres to strict fire safety standards. It offers a world-class passenger experience with amenities including USB charging ports, state-of-the-art security systems, modular pantries, and accessible facilities such as showers in First AC. This launch underscores India's commitment to enhancing the travel experience for its middle-class population while pushing the boundaries of innovation in rail transport.
