In the past month, India’s market showed mixed performance. The NIFTY index Up by 3.5%, the overall market is up 26% over the last year. The rally was driven by IT sector, Pharma and FMCG propelling the frontline indices to new record fresh milestones. India's retail inflation rose to 3.65% in August from a five-year low of 3.54%. Food inflation, making up half of the CPI basket, increased to 5.66%. Despite staying within RBI's tolerance range, it remains above the target of 4%. A weak rupee and monsoon risks may keep inflation pressures high. Private consumption remained muted due to factors like subdued monsoon. The agricultural sector showed positive advancements, with an increase in the cultivated area for Rabi crops.
