Wipro’s Ex-CEO Thierry Delaporte Was Indian IT’s Highest-Paid Boss In FY24

Wipro’s Ex-CEO Thierry Delaporte Was Indian IT’s Highest-Paid Boss In FY24

Wipro Ltd’s former CEO Thierry Delaporte became the highest-paid top boss in the Indian IT sector for the financial year ending March 2024, earning $20.1 million (₹167 crore), according to company filings with the US SEC. Delaporte’s remuneration doubled from FY23's $10 million, driven by a $4.33 million cash severance and accelerated vesting of 989,130 unvested stock options. His base salary and other payouts more than doubled, and his commission increased four-fold in FY24. Delaporte, who joined Wipro on July 6, 2020, resigned on April 6, 2024, a year before his tenure's end, with Srinivas Pallia replacing him and expected to earn $7 million in his first year as CEO. In contrast, Delaporte earned $8.8 million in his first year (FY21). Delaporte’s salary, while the highest among his Indian IT peers, is slightly lower than Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar Singisetti's $22.6 million in 2023. Cognizant follows a January-December fiscal year, unlike Indian firms' April-March calendar.Despite Delaporte's salary increase, Wipro's executive chairman Rishad Premji did not receive a commission for the second consecutive year due to stagnant net profits, earning $0.77 million in FY24, down from $0.95 million in FY23.
