Food
inflation fell for the second time in a row to nine-week low, as fresh supplies lowered prices of fruits and vegetables. The food inflation index rose 11.05 per cent for week ended February 5, slowing down from 13.07 per cent in the previous week.
The index for food articles group declined by 2.1 per cent to 182.9 from 86.9 for the previous week due to lower prices of fruits & vegetables (8 per cent), moong (2 per cent) and masur, rice, fish-marine and maize (1 per cent each). However, the prices of jowar (6 per cent), ragi, condiments & spices and mutton (2 per cent each) and bajra, urad, gram and wheat (1 per cent each) moved up.
