Jet Airways has appointed Anita Naresh Goyal, wife of company chairman Naresh Goyal, as an additional director on its board.
The move assumes significance in the light of capital market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India's norm for all listed companies to have at least one woman director on board.
"The company has appointed Anita Naresh Goyal, as an additional director (non-executive and non-independent) with effect from April 8, 2015," the airline said in a regulatory filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Sebi had last year directed all listed companies to appoint at least one woman director by October 1, 2014, and later extended the deadline to March 31, 2015.
