
Diesel price has been increased by 50 paise per litre with effect from midnight, however, petrol price remains unchanged.
"The current level of international prices and INR-USD exchange rate warrant a price increase, which is being passed on to consumers with this price revision," state-run Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) said in a statement in the national capital.
Now, diesel will cost Rs 44.95 per litre as against Rs 44.45 currently, IOC said.
On September 1, petrol price was cut by Rs 2 per litre and diesel by Rs 0.50 a litre.
On Wednesday, the Maharashtra government decided to levy a surcharge of Rs 2 on petrol and diesel, effective from October 1.
