Would pick Arun Shourie as FM, if I were the PM: ISB's Shobhit Mathur

The BJP has won a decisive mandate for economic development. That is the primary parameter against which its performance will be measured five years from now. This makes the Finance Ministry the key to the success of the current Government. If I were the PM, I would assign this portfolio to Arun Shourie. The role of the FM will require not just domain expertise but also a lot of negotiation skills to get some tough bills passed. Arun Shourie is not just a trained economist, but also a experienced politician. He is well respected in political and economic circles, which will help him gain support from the chief ministers and the bureaucracy.

Raghuram Rajan should be allowed to continue as the RBI Governor, as his policies have helped the investors gain confidence. N Sreedharan would be apt for the role of Railways Minister, as he can help build the bullet train corridor across the country.
