The new series will run Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and will offer Android apps and Microsoft services alongwith signature Nokia experiences.
Nokia on Monday launched three new devices in the range - Nokia X, Nokia X+ and Nokia XL at the ongoing Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona.
The Nokia X features a 4-inch WVGA display and is powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual core processor. It is paired with 512 MB RAM and will have 4GB internal storage with microSD support, 3MP camera and 1500 mAh battery.

The Nokia XL has a 5-inch display with 800x480 pixel resolution, a 5MP camera, 1GHz dual core processor, 768 MB RAM and 4GB of internal storage with support for expandable memory card slot.
All the phones have dual SIMs and will not have access to Google Play Store. Instead, Nokia will offer its own app store, which will feature a combination of Android, Windows and its own apps.

"Today Windows Phone is the fastest growing mobile ecosystem in the world, and we continue to see incredible momentum with our Lumia smartphones," said Bryan Biniak, Vice President and General Manager, Developer Experience at Nokia. "We're delivering the same design, quality and innovation Nokia is known for. The lower price points are to capture the fastest growing segment of the smartphone market."
While the Nokia X will be available in India immediately, the other two will be in the market in the second half of the year.
