Apple iPhone 6s: Apple's iPhones are the much awaited smartphones for the year. This year, the Cupertino-based company announced two new upgrades to its existing smartphones - the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus. The iPhone 6s packed in a better processor, a 12-MP camera with slow motion video capture feature and a better battery backup.  But the expensive price tag has resulted in a significant price drop of the iPhone 6s, which is now retailing close to Rs 50,000 for the 16-GB variant.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge: Earlier Samsung used to launch two flagship smartphones every year but the company has one more addition - with the Edge. This year, along with the launch of the Galaxy S6, Samsung has also launched the Galaxy S6 Edge. It was a beautiful piece of hardware packing in a 5.1-inch touch display, 16-MP rear camera and 2.1-GHz + 1.5 GHz Octa Core Processor.

Nexus 6P: This year Google had launched two new smartphones - Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P. But of the two smartphones, the Nexus 6P manufactured by Huawei is a straightaway winner. With a 5.7-inch touch display, it runs on Android Marshmallow operating system and has a beautiful aeronautic-grade anodised aluminium case. It also has a fingerprint scanner at the rear that works flawlessly. There is also a 12.3-MP rear camera that captures great images.

Asus ZenFone 2: The surprise flagship smartphone for the year is the Asus Zenfone 2 with 4 GB RAM. This powerhouse proved that flagship smartphones are not just defined by the price tag but also by feature set and performance. The ZenFone offered one of the best 13-MP cameras. It packed in an 2.3-GHz Intel Atom Z3580 Quad-core processor.

The OnePlus 2 had the Snapdragon 810 processor paired with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB internal storage. It even had a superb 13-MP rear camera with laser focus and a fingerprint scanner. Only the Oxygen OS was still not up to the mark. But the company has been constantly releasing the updates and fixing the OS. For Rs 24,999, it is a great device.
