Eight college dropouts who became successful businessmen

Steve Jobs

The most influential technological mind of the past century, Steve Jobs, dropped out of his college after attending classes for only six months. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak created the first successful personal computers, and over the years helped introduce the iPod, iPhone, and iPad.

John D. Rockefeller

John Davison Rockefeller Sr. was an American oil industry business magnate. He is widely considered as the wealthiest American of all time. By the time he was sixteen, Rockefeller decided it was time to quit school and begin a career. Rockefeller made his mark in the oil industry, starting Standard Oil and ultimately creating a monopoly on the entire industry.

Henry Ford

Henry Ford was an American industrialist, the founder of the Ford Motor Company. Ford left home at the age of seventeen and became an apprentice with a machinist in Detroit. Despite having next to no real education, Ford created the mechanized assembly line and it wasn't long before Detroit gained the nickname of the Motor City because of his incredible work.

Mark Zuckerberg

Now, who doesn't know Mark Zuckerberg! The co- founder, CEO and chairman of Facebook; he is the fifth richest person in the world. Zuckerberg launched Facebook from his Harvard University dormitory room on February 4, 2004. Following which Zuckerberg dropped out of Harvard in his second year to continue with Facebook.

Dhirubhai Ambani

Dhirubhai Ambani is considered the most successful businessman in the country. He is the founder of the Reliance Industries and made it what it is today right from scratch. As a student, Dhirubhai Ambani was extremely impatient. Despite being very intelligent, he did not do well in school. He gave up education while he was in college to take a job in Aden.

Gautam Adani

Gautam Adani is one of the top businessmen in the country. He is the chairman and founder of the Adani Group. He founded the group in the year 1988, which now deals in coal trading, coal mining, oil & gas exploration, ports, logistics, power generation, agriculture, edible oils, transmission and gas distribution. He started a bachelor's degree in commerce at Gujarat University, but dropped out after the second year.

Ritesh Agarwal

Ritesh Agarwal is the man behind OYO Rooms. This Gurgaon-based company, was founded by him in 2012. He dropped out of college when he was 17 and founded Oravel. Oravel was designed as a platform for booking budget and premium accommodation. He then received its share of fundings and accolades and later he rebranded it to OYO Rooms. It currently operates in more than 200 Indian cities and in Malaysia.

Kunal Shah

Kunal Shah is the brainchild behind Freecharge, the famous platform which revolutionized the online recharge system with three step recharges along with providing offers of same value. The company was founded in 2010 and was acquired by Snapdeal in 2015. He did Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Wilson College and later went to Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies from which he dropped out later.
