Auto Expo 2018: SUVs of all sizes to flood Indian markets

Car buyers in India are somewhat obsessed with utility vehicles, in the compact, sports and multi utility segment. According to SIAM, one in every four passenger cars sold in India in 2017 was a SUV or MUV. With SUVs coming in all sizes, car buyers have more options in hand in all price brackets. We take a look at some of the cars which were launched at Auto Expo 2018

Kia SP Compact SUV
The car will be the first offering from the auto major for the Indian car market and will be produced at Ananthpur plan, Andhra Pradesh. The car has looks similar to the Hyundai Creta and will be priced under Rs 10 lakh. The SUV is expected to have wide wheels and 1.6-litre diesel engine

Maruti Suzuki e-Survivor
The e-Survivor is a design study model for a compact SUV and is based on Maruti Suzuki's concept of future mobility. The car is powered with a four-wheel drive and shows Maruti Suzuki's commitment of developing the whole EV in India, with components being manufactured locally, charging infrastructure and batteries

Maruti Suzuki  FutureS
The car is a future view of the compact SUVs as the focus is on practical and ultra-modern design. The car will be positioned below Vitara Brezza and is a perfect combination of style, speed and efficiency. At the launch, Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki, said: "Compact is the natural choice of India's car customers. Tata Motors H5X
The H5X is based on Impact 2.0 design philosophy of Tata Motors and features sharp styling cues. The SUV will utilise the same platform as Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) Discovery Sport - L550 platform and will be launched in next 16 months.  The car will be available in the 5 and 7 seater formats and will be in the league of Hyundai Creta and the Renault Captur

BMW X3
BMW's third-gen X3 has been well worth the wait. 51mm longer, 10mm wider than its predecessor, the new X3 will be available in 2 variants, the xDrive 20d and the xDrive 30d. The new X3 will be more expensive in comparison with the outgoing model, which had a starting price of Rs 47.5 lakh ex-showroom India

M&M TUV Stinger
Mahindra & Mahindra's first convertible SUV "TUV Stinger" is based on the principle of the Mahindra TUV300 and is aimed at young urban buyers. The SUV looks tough, rugged and urbane with muscular tyres and sturdy body. There is a lot of focus on safety and reliability and the interiors are stylish and well equipped

Mahindra Rexton
M&M launched the globally-awarded G4 Ssangyong Rexton SUV in India and will be available later this year. The new luxury SUV, which will take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour, will cost you around Rs 20 lakh. M&M will assemble it here in India and will manufacture some of the parts locally. SsangYong's G4 Rexton has got rave reviews for its style, quality, safety and technology at the international level
