Swachh Survekshan 2017 survey: Here's a list of the 10 cleanest cities in India

1. Indore

The results of the cleanliness survey of 434 cities were announced by Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday. Indore ranked 1st in the Swachh Survekshan 2017 survey. It is the largest and most populous city of Madhya Pradesh. Indore has been selected as one of the 100 cities to be developed as a smart city under the Smart Cities Mission.

2. Bhopal

Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, is the 17th largest city in the country. Bhopal is known as the City of Lakes for its various natural as well as artificial lakes and is also one of the greenest cities in India. It is ranked 2nd in the Swachh Survekshan 2017 survey.

3. Vishakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam is the largest city, both in terms of area and population, in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is located on the coast of Bay of Bengal in the north eastern region of the state. It is ranked 3rd in the Swachh Survekshan 2017 survey.

4. Surat

Surat, a port city in Gujarat, was previously known as Suryapur. It is ranked 4th in the Swachh Survekshan 2017 survey.

5. Mysore

Mysore, officially renamed as Mysuru, is the third most populous and the third largest city in Karnataka. It is ranked 5th in the Swachh Survekshan 2017 survey.

6. Tiruchirapalli

Tiruchirappalli, also called Tiruchi or Trichy, is a city in Tamil Nadu. It is the fourth largest municipal corporation and the fourth largest urban agglomeration in the state. It is ranked 6th in the Swachh Survekshan 2017 survey. Tiruchirappalli was listed as the third-cleanest city in India in 2016.

7. New Delhi Municipal Council

New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is the municipal council of the city of New Delhi, India. The Union Territory of Delhi is divided into three statutory urban regions: the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), and the Delhi Cantonment Board. New Delhi Municipal Council ranked 7th in the Swachh Survekshan 2017 survey.

8. Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai is ranked 4th in the Swachh Survekshan 2017 survey.

9. Tirupati

Tirupati is a city in Chittoor district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the ninth most populous city in Andhra Pradesh. Tirupati is considered one of the holiest Hindu pilgrimage sites because of Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, besides other historical sites. It is ranked 9th in the Swachh Survekshan 2017 survey.

10. Vadodara

Vadodara, the cultural capital of Gujarat, is ranked 10th in the Swachh Survekshan 2017 survey.
