The Mumbai Police investigating steel baron Sajjan Jindal, who was booked for rape in a case filed by an actress, have found that the case filed against the industrialist was false. The police filed a closure report on Saturday at Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate Court, stating that the complaint was trying to frame the accused person in a false case.

India Today TV exclusively accessed information regarding the B Summary report filed in the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate Court on March 16.

The report says that in the investigation, it has been observed that the complainant filed the complaint long after the incident. Even after registering the complaint through the female officer and also saying that she would present the evidence herself, she has not yet submitted the evidence.

"Also, we as the investigating officer, for the purpose of obtaining evidence and for recording the statement of the plaintiff as per CRPC 164, even after repeatedly writing to the court, she did not appear to record the statement to inform the said plaintiff and wasted the time of the court."

"Our investigation has further revealed that in the FIR, the complainant has stated that on 24/12/2021, the accused visited her hotel at Taj Land End and tried to molest her, and on the day of the incident, the accused did not go to the said place as well as from the correspondence with the said hotel. It has been concluded from the testimony of the witnesses there."

From the testimony given by the witnesses, who were present at the place of occurrence mentioned by the plaintiff, and from the evidence obtained during the investigation, it has been concluded that there was no wrongdoing with the woman as mentioned in the FIR, the police said.

"On the whole, our investigation revealed that the said case has been filed by the plaintiff with the intention of framing the accused in a false crime. Therefore, it is requested to grant summary judgment of the said crime," the police concluded.

In December last year, a 30-year-old woman accused Jindal of raping her after promising to marry her. The woman claimed she met Jindal, the chairman and managing director of JSW Group, at a cricket match in Dubai a few years ago which led to a friendship and subsequently to the industrialist getting attracted to her.

The alleged sexual assault happened on January 23 this year inside the JSW Group headquarters, the woman claimed, adding that the industrialist had promised to marry her. She approached the police on February 16, and an FIR was filed at the BKC police station in Mumbai on December 13 under sections 376 (rape), 354 (outraging modesty of a woman) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

Jindal, however, denied all the charges and said he was committed to providing full cooperation throughout the investigation. "As the investigation is ongoing, we will refrain from commenting further at this stage. We kindly request you to respect the privacy of the family," he said.
