Kingfisher Airlines staff may disrupt IPL matches

Frustrated over non-payment of salary for last 10 months, thousands of employees of beleaguered Kingfisher Airlines threatened to disrupt IPL cricket tournament matches of the Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB), the team owned by the airline chairman Vijay Mallya.

Frustrated over non-payment of salary for last 10 months, thousands of employees of beleaguered Kingfisher Airlines (KFA) on Wednesday threatened to disrupt IPL cricket tournament matches of the Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB), the team owned by the airline chairman Vijay Mallya. The IPL starts from April 3. KFA employees in a letter to civil aviation minister Ajit Singh, have sought government's intervention in the matter.

"This time, we will protest outside the venue of RCB matches," said S. C. Mishra, a KFA employee.

Last time, when Formula 1 race was held in Greater Noida, KFA management fearing protests paid employees one month salary and assured them to pay the remaining 10 months' salary in installments, but employees have not been paid since then.
