Infosys, the country's second largest software exporter, was incorporated in Pune, in 1981, as Infosys Consultants Private Limited, a private limited company under the Companies Act, 1956. In 1983, the corporate headquarters were relocated to Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.

 

The name of the company was changed to Infosys Technologies Private Limited in April 1992 and to Infosys Technologies Limited in June 1992, when the company became a public limited company. During fiscal 2012, the name of the company was changed from Infosys Technologies Limited to Infosys Limited to mark the transition from being a technology services provider to a business transformation partner to our clients.

 

The IT bellwether has a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 2,81,603 crore. The company's market capitalisation is included in the computation of the BSE 30 Sensitive Index (Sensex), the BSE Dollex, the S&P CNX NIFTY Index, Dow Jones Global Titans 50 and NYSE.

 

For the quarter ended September, the company reported a net profit after tax of Rs 3,879 crore and total income of Rs 19,039 crore. The company's total operating revenue was Rs 61,941 crore and equity capital was Rs 1,092 crore during the year ended March 31, 2018.
