
Fortis Healthcare on Thursday reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 46.8 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2014.
It had reported a net loss of Rs 221.3 crore in the same period of previous year.
Consolidated total income of the company was at Rs 1,009.4 crore for the quarter under consideration. It was Rs 1,503.63 crore for the same period a year ago, Fortis Healthcare said in a statement.
Commenting on the results, Fortis Healthcare Chief Executive Officer Aditya Vij said: "We have had a strong first quarter with a significant improvement in our operating margins. The quality of our earnings has also improved dramatically with a focus on the higher value market segments."
Overall expenses during the quarter stood at Rs 995.91 crore as against Rs 1,461.38 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago.
Shares of Fortis Healthcare were trading at Rs 114.65 apeice on BSE, down 0.22 per cent from previous close.
