Kolkata-based
ITC on Friday posted a 22.45 per cent increase in its standalone net profit to Rs 1,700.98 crore in the quarter ended December 31, 2011 as against the same period last fiscal.
The
diversified business group that is engaged in various sectors , including hospitality and FMCG, had recorded a net profit of Rs 1,389.08 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal.
During the third quarter this fiscal, the firm posted a net sales of Rs 6,105.43 crore, up 12.56 per cent from Rs 5,424.25 crore in the year-ago period.
While the net revenue of its FMCG segment, which includes its cigarette business, stood at Rs 4,603.66 crore, its hotels business posted a revenue of Rs 278.72 crore.
Scrips of ITC were trading at Rs 206.90 per share on the BSE in afternoon trade, down 0.93 per cent from the previous close.
