
Drug firm Merck Ltd on Wednesday reported a 25.83 per cent rise in its standalone net profit to Rs 20.99 crore for the second quarter ended June 30, 2014, mainly on robust sales.
The company had posted a net profit of Rs 16.68 crore for the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, the company said in a filing to Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
Standalone net sales of the company also rose to Rs 232.64 crore for the quarter under consideration as against Rs 200.29 crore for the same period year ago.
Merck Ltd was set up in India in 1967 as Merck's first Asian subsidiary. The company operates pharmaceuticals and chemicals businesses in the country.
Shares of the drug firm were on Wednesday trading at Rs 779.90 per scrip in the afternoon trade on the BSE, down 6.45 per cent from its previous close.
