
Country's fourth largest telecom operator Reliance Communications (RCom) has roped in Vinod Sawhny, former chief of Airtel Mobility, as chief executive officer while RCom's CEO for wireless business Gurdeep Singh has been given additional responsibility of consumer business.
The company's consumer business will comprise DTH and consumer broadband business. Singh will report to Sawhny.
RCom in a statement announced the "appointment of Vinod Sawhny as CEO" to lead the company.
Prior to joining RCom, Sawhny has worked for Bharti Group for more then 10 years in various roles including as member of Bharti Airtel Management Board, Joint President for Airtel Enterprise business, Executive Director and CEO of Airtel Mobility and President and Chief Operating Officer of Bharti Retail.
The portfolio under Singh represent over 70 per cent of RCom's revenue and operating profits, the statement added.
The Anil Ambani led firm also announced formation of RCom Management Board which will include Sawhny, Singh, company's CEO for Indian Enterprise and Internet Data Centre business, Reliance Globalcom's CEO Bill Barney, President for IT and Services Suresh Rangachar, Chief Financial Officer Manikantan Iyer and Human Resource President Amit Das.
The rejig at RCom comes within a month of industry leader Bharti Airtel announcing change in its management and organisational structure.
Recently, RCom inducted Ramesh Menon as Head of GSM services who have previously worked with Airtel. In September, the company announced the appointment of Deepak Khanna as CEO, India Enterprise business who too had worked with Bharti Airtel earlier.
RCom has appointed Vivek Gangwar as head of its Customer Service who previously served Vodafone as Associate Vice President in similar division.
