TCS donates Rs 231 crore to Carnegie Mellon University

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has donated Rs 231 crore to the US-based Carnegie Mellon University (CMU).

The amount represents the largest corporate gift to the university from outside the US.

The donation will be used to fund a new facility, the Tata Consultancy Services Building, which will support education and research by CMU faculty and students.

The gift also will endow Presidential Fellowships and Scholarships, more access to a CMU education for outstanding students, TCS said in a statement.

"Together, our two organizations have the capabilities to make breakthrough discoveries and the capacity to make societal impact on a global scale."

Carnegie Mellon is a private university with programmes in areas ranging from science, technology and business, to public policy, the humanities and the arts.
