TVS succession plan: Sudarshan Venu joins Sundaram-Clayton Ltd

As part of the succession plan of the TVS group, Sudarshan Venu, son of TVS Motor Company chairman Venu Srinivasan joined as the additional director on the board of TVS group company Sundaram-Clayton Ltd (SCL).

As part of the succession plan of the TVS group, Sudarshan Venu, son of TVS Motor Company chairman Venu Srinivasan joined as the additional director on the board of TVS group company Sundaram-Clayton Ltd (SCL).

Sundaram Clayton Ltd (SCL) is part of the $4-billion TVS group, one of the largest auto components manufacturing and distribution group in India. SCL is a leading supplier of aluminium die castings to automotive and non-automotive sectors. Sudarshan Venu holds a string of academic degrees. He is a Masters in International Technology Management from the Warwick Manufacturing Group at the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom. A graduate with Honours from the Jerome Fisher Programme in Management and Technology at the University of Pennsylvania, US, Sundaram is a mechanical engineer from the School of Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Economics, both from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, according to company statement.

Sudarshan's appointment comes about two years after his elder sister Lakshmi Venu was inducted into the company. This year, Lakshmi married Rohan Murthy, son of Infosys founder N.R. Narayana Murthy.

Sudarshan joins the club of Gen-Next successors, such as Rishad Premji, son of Wipro chief Azim Premji and Shravin Mittal, son of telecom czar Sunil Bharti Mittal.

In September 2010, Rishad Premji was appointed chief strategy officer in the Bangalore-headquartered IT major Wipro Ltd. Almost at the same time, first generation telecom entrepreneur Sunil Mittal carved out a place for his son in a group company that is responsible for Bharti Airtel's international business. Kishore Biyani too, has inducted his daughter Ashni Biyani in his retail business.
