Internet giant Yahoo Inc is set to change its logo for the first time in nearly twenty years.
The first major modification in the company's history will be promoted through the month of August by a series designs, one amongst which will be unveiled officially as the new logo on September 4.
Yahoo Chief Marketing Officer Kathy Savitt in a blog post on Wednesday said the company will be releasing a new design every day over the next 30 days, "honouring the legacy of our present logo".
"The new logo will
be a modern redesign that's more reflective of our reimagined design and new experiences... Beginning now, we will display a variation of the logo on our homepage and throughout our network in the US for the next month," Savitt said.
Yahoo will, however, stick to the logo's purple colour and the iconic exclamation mark.
"We also want to preserve the character that is unique to Yahoo! - fun, vibrant, and welcoming - so we'll be keeping the color purple, our iconic exclamation point and of course the famous yodel. After all, some things never go out of style," Savitt said. "The logo is your calling card, identity, manifestation."
You can track each
day's logo on Tumblr, @Yahoo (#dailylogo) and on the internet giant's Facebook page.
