
Union Minister for Information Technology and Communications Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Digital India initiative would change the entire canvas of the country, adding that the Centre has taken additional measures to supplement the entire initiative.
"The Digital India initiative is going to change the entire canvas of the country. The Government of India has decided to take additional measures to supplement entire initiative," Prasad said, while briefing on new initiatives aimed at reducing 'Call Drops'.
The Union Minister also said that the Central Government and the telecom department expected the Telecom Service Providers (TSP) to upgrade their networks.
"Department of Telecom and Government of India would expect the telecom service operators to properly upgrade their network. We expect the TSP's to undertake a special drive for radio frequency optimization of their network," he said.
"I have directed the department to conduct a special audit of the quality of service parameters focused on network performance. We are trying to focus upon greater expansion of in-building solutions.I have directed the Telecom Secretary to have a structured involvement of in-building solutions in all the Government buildings in Delhi," he added.
